george_schwab_artist_portraitAs a sculptor I use common building materials, rectilinear geometries and simple machines as a rabatment to create objects that reference their own making. These objects are a direct outcome of a life long fascination with industrial design, carpentry, home construction and “how-to” books/videos. I am constantly looking, asking, analyzing and learning how the built world is made. These creations are representations of all of the actions, thoughts and planning that lead to their formation. In my own practice every outcome leads to a new set of questions, a new set of problems to solve and a deep desire to learn more about what is possible and a joyful uncertainty about where I’ll end up next.
